Bio

Ms. Holly Hughes was born and raised in Walterboro, South Carolina.  She graduated in 2004 from Colleton County High School.  During high school, she lettered in cheerleading, competitive cheerleading and soccer.  After graduation, Ms. Hughes attended USC Salkehatchie and earned an A.S. in Science.  She then attended USC Beaufort where she earned her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.  She began her teaching career in 2009 as an instructor for the Colleton County Museum teaching courses in ACE Basin awareness and conservation. She has also taught lab courses in Marine Ecology for USC Beaufort.

Ms. Hughes currently resides in Ruffin and teaches science.  She earned her Master’s in Education from USC Columbia in 2014 with an emphasis in instruction and curriculum.  She began teaching public school at Colleton County High School in 2010 and transferred to Wade Hampton in 2016.  She received recognition from the state department in 2015 and 2016 for her student’s EOC scores which were some of the highest in the state for their demographic.
